December 2016 marks 125 years since the birth of Otto Dix (German painter; 2 December 1891 – 25 July 1969):
Otto Dix is renowned for his unforgiving depiction of World War I and Germany's Weimar Republic. His artworks form part of the "Neue Sachlichkei"t (New Objectivity) movement, which also attracted the painters George Grosz and Max Beckmann.
