Max von Sydow
Max von Sydow, born on April 10th, 1929 in Lund, is one of the world’s most distinguished character actors. The son of German parents made his debut in 1949 in the Swedish feature film “Rya-Rya – Nur eine Mutter”.
In 1955 he met director Ingmar Bergmann and subsequently worked closely with him. He plays alongside Liv Ullmann in films such as “Shame”, “Hour of the Wolf” and “Passion”. In 1965 he played in a feature film outside of Scandinavia for the first time. His greatest successes include his role as a priest in “The Exorcist” and as a Blofeld in “James Bond 007 – Never Say Never.”
In 1988 he was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in “Pelle the Conqueror”.
He continued his career in film and television into old age.
Died on March 8th, 2020 in Paris.
