March 2021: 150 years since the birth of Rosa Luxemburg.
Rosa Luxemburg (also Rozalia Luxenburg), 5 March 1871 – 15 January 1919, was a Polish-born German revolutionary and agitator who played a key role in the founding of the Polish Social Democratic Party and the Spartacus League, which grew into the Communist Party of Germany. As a political theoretician, Luxemburg developed a humanitarian theory of Marxism, stressing democracy and revolutionary mass action to achieve international socialism.
Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht both died on the night of 15 January 1919, murdered in Berlin by right wing irregular soldiers known as the Freikorps.
