Immigration to Germany
At the end of the 17th Century Protestant religious refugees from France found a new home in Brandenburg-Prussia. The rich cultural and economic impact of their immigration to Germany is still felt today .

A second large wave of immigration in the first half of the 18th Century saw 20,000 Protestant religious refugees from the Archbishopric of Salzburg, forced to flee following an Edict of Expulsion in 1731, finding new homes in Prussia .
