The Royal Geographical Society
The picture archive of the Royal Geographical Society comprises among others the photo documentation of famous historical expeditions. We show a small selection of terrific shots of the first ascent of the Mount Everest in 1951 and the Terra Nova Expedition to the South Pole by Robert Falcon Scott 1910 to 1913. The Royal Geographical Society was founded in 1830 to promote research and teaching of geography in London. Nowadays the society is one of the largest geographical societies in the world.
