This castle, built from 13th to 16th centuries, is considered the last Cathar stronghold. It sits on a high peak at 728m. It is one of the Five Sons of Carcassonne or Cinq Fils de Carcassonne. It is a listed monument historique and has been fully restored, restoration work being completed in 2002.
