Smooth, closed suspension ring, the lower cross-arm punched ""900"" and ""20"" (for Zimmermann, Pforzheim). Typical shallow, roughly de-burred Zimmermann issue. Dimensions ca. 53 x 59.8 mm, weight 30.5 g. With a ribbon segment ca. 80 mm in length (Nie 7.04.01). The gold class was instituted on 8 July 1944 and only produced in very small numbers. Just two bestowals are known to have occurred. This example comes from the awards hoard hidden by the Orders Chancellery at Kleßheim Castle near Salzburg, which was subsequently looted at war's end by American forces.
